How to pray: (Check back for more)

  1. Prepare:

    • Judge yourself and you will not need to be judged. 1 Corinthians 11:31

    • Confess your sins, as the Holy Spirit reveals them to you. 1 John 1:9

    • Believe the one who promised to cleanse us of our sins. Psalm 103:10-13

    • Believe you receive and you shall have what you have asked for that is according to his will.

                   Mark 11:23-24; James 4:3

   2.    Praise: is a conscious act of remembrance, in honoring the one who is praised.

    • Honor the Lord in the dance: "And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD. 2Sa 6:16

    • Honor the Lord with song: "[3] Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. [4] For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.[5] Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. [6] ¶ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand." Psalm 149

    • Honor the Lord, with instruments, where ever we are, and with whatever we have:"[1] ¶ Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. [2] Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. [3] Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. [4] Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. [5] Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. [6] Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." Ps 150

    • Honor the Lord for he is here: "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel." Ps 22:3

    • Honor the Lord with thanksgiving: "[2] Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. [3] Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. [4] Enter into his gates with       thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Ps 100

    • Honor the Lord with our obedience to his will: "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1Th 5:18/ Colo. 3:17

3. Pray: Why does God require prayer? The single most important element of prayer is humility. Effective

              prayer, by definition, requires humility.

[10] "Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. [11] The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. [12] I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. [13] And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
[14] I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." - Lu 18

·         "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Php 4:6

·         "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

     Lu 18:1

Let God be God in every needful circumstance.

[24] "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:[25] Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? [26]The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. [27] For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, [28] For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. [29] And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, [30] By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." - Acts 4

4. Proclaim:  Heb 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of

reward. [36] For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive

        the promise.

Phm 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Mr 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Pr 12:6 ¶ The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Pr 12:14 ¶ A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
Pr 13:2 ¶ A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

Pr 18:20 ¶ A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Pr 21:23 ¶ Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

       5. PercevereGa 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we

           faint not.

Mt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

1Jo 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. [5] Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Re 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. [11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Praying the Cross:

1.       "Our Father which art in heaven, hollowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy

will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

·         God's will

·         God's kingdom: righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17)

·         God's holy name: baptize, declare faith, exercise authority. (Acts 2:38; 4:12; Philemon 6; Hebrews 10:23; John 1:12; Acts 1:8)

2.       "Give us this day our daily bread." Jesus is the bread of life (Jhn 6:35; 10:10) those who come to

him shall never hunger nor thirst.

3.      "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." If we do not forgive; neither shall we be forgiven. (Mark 11:26; 1 Peter 3:7)

    4.   "And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." There is no temptation given to you

that is not common to all men; but God is faithful to make a way to escape that you may be able

to bear it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13 Therefore, The Apostle James writes, "Count it all joy (strength)

when you come into trials; knowing that the trying of your faith works patience and let patience

have her perfect work that you may be complete and entire lacking in nothing." Jas. 1:2 And the

Apostel Paul encourages us that, "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them

who are the called according to his purpose." - Ro 8:28

    5.   "For thine is the kingdom." The implication is that the kingdom that we seek after and desire

belongs to God. His kingdom of:

        ·         Righteousness: Without blame, credible, good standing, the right way to go, the Word of God.

        ·         Peace : "Freedom from the fear of evil."- Prov. 1:33; John 14:27

        ·         Joy in the Holy Ghost: Spiritural stength to endure all things.- Neh. 8:10; Jas. 1:2-4

6.       "And the glory." Dignity, honor, praise, and worship.

7.       "And the power, forever.": The ability to do miracles, life without end. Rev. 5:12; Acts 1:8; Eph.3:21;

         Heb. 7:3; Isa. 45:17
