Fear is worship:

  • The first thing that God tells people when he reveals himself to them is "Fear not.", and yet we

are instructed that the "fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. . . " What's with that?

It should be obvious that there are two kinds of fear.

    • "Yare", Hebrew (Strong's 3372) which means to dread, frighten. In other words, God says, "don't run away."
    • "Yirah", Hebrew (Strong's 3374) which means to have moral reverence.

  • Fear of anything other than God is misplaced worship, reverence, and respect.
  • Fear, in things other than God, is a vacuum, where there is no faith.
  • We must not let circumstances rule our lives. That privledge is reserved for God alone.

Overcoming FEAR:  with the Love of God shed abroad in our hearts. 1 John 4:18; Romans 5:8

F orgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, we press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:13-14

E xpecting the fulfillment of his promises, we ". . . lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2

A nxious for nothing, but in everything with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, we let our requests be known unto God." Philippians 4:6

R esisting all manner of evil, we come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
